Description Technical Info

Weatherby Mark V - Backcountry Ti 2.0 - 280 Ackley Improved - 24":

The next generation of the ground-breaking Backcountry family, the Backcountry 2.0 Ti is built around the supremely lightweight and strong titanium Weatherby Mark V action - with some key updates. Still equipped with a super thin and lightweight fluted barrel, it is contoured at a #1 MOD or #2 MOD depending on the chambering. The most noticeable upgrade is the new carbon fiber Peak 44 Blacktooth stock, the lightest versions of which tip the scales at under 20 ounces. Starting at just 4.7 lbs and 4.9 lbs in magnum chamberings, this is the lightest in the Backcountry 2.0 family. When chambered in 6.5 WBY RPM, it holds the crown as the lightest/fastest hunting rifle on the market.

Guaranteed Sub-MoA Accuracy
All Mark V rifles are guaranteed to shoot a 3-shot group of .99 inch or less at 100 yards (SUB-MOA) from a cold barrel when used with Weatherby factory or premium ammunition.

Triggertech Trigger
TriggerTechs trigger provides true zero-creep break, extremely short over-travel, and is externally adjustable. Precision cut stainless steel components ensure consistent trigger pulls from shot to shot in a safe, reliable, and corrosion resistant package.

Accubrake ST
By adding an Accubrake you will significantly reduce felt recoil up to 53 percent

54 Degree Bolt
The shortest in the industry (as compared to typical 90 bolt throw). Allows for faster chambering on follow-up shots and greater bolt-to-scope clearance.

Carbon Fiber Stock
AG Composites proprietary manufacturing process provides excellent stiffness and lightweight attributes from carefully selected materials. The stocks are also impervious to environmental factors and will offer predictable, reliable performance.

3D Hex Recoil Reducer
Large caliber felt recoil dissipation provided in the lightest recoil reducer available. 3DHEX is a patent pending high strength energy diffusing lattice structure designed to distribute specific directional forces and reduce muzzle lift.

Titanium Receiver
Titanium properties present 42 percent the weight of traditional steel which provides maximum weight savings for the hunter looking to save every ounce while maintaining structural integrity.

Cerakote Finish
Cerakote is the industry leading thin film ceramic coating. The Cerakote unique formula enhances physical properties including wear, corrosion, and chemical resistance while improving impact strengths, and hardness.

280 Remington Ackley Improved:

One of P.O. Ackley's earliest wildcats was the 7mm-06 Improved, which was made by necking down the .30-06 Springfield case and fire-forming it to have less body taper and a 40-degree shoulder angle. Soon after the .280 Remington came out, Fred Huntington reformed its case to an improved configuration with minimum body taper, a 35-degree shoulder angle, and called it the .280 RCBS. Since cases for the .280 RCBS could be formed by firing .280 Remington ammo in a rifle chambered for the former, Ackley abandoned the 7mm-06 Improved and started chambering rifles for the .280 RCBS. He then changed the 35-degree shoulder to 40-degrees and the .280 Ackley Improved was born. If barrel length and chamber pressure are equal, the .280 Ackley Improved is about 100 fps faster with all bullet weights than the standard .280 Remington. In 2007, ammunition manufacturer Nosler registered the .280 Ackley Improved with SAAMI and began providing factory loaded ammunition and rifles for it.
