Description

Gunwerks Ammunition - 6.5 Creedmoor - 140gr - Berger Elite :

Gunwerks ammunition is designed to yield top performance at long range. The VLD or BTHP design bullet has become very popular for long range hunting due to its unique terminal performance characteristics. The small meplat and copper nose exhibit a delayed expansion reaction allowing the bullet to penetrate several inches before expanding. With a simple copper jacket and lead core, once the bullet starts expanding, it really comes apart, creating massive wound cavities and devastating performance.

From bullets to powder and primers, every component and specification has been carefully selected to provide the ultimate performance for long range hunting ammunition. It is hand loaded one cartridge at a time with meticulous inspection and quality control. With a proper understanding of external and internal ballistics, our engineers have been able to increase downrange performance for all cartridges while keeping recoil at a minimum.

This ammo is designed specifically for Gunwerks rifles; however, it can perform very well in other rifles. Our ammo is loaded longer than most factory ammo, meaning cartridges may not fit in some factory box magazines. See COAL measurement to confirm fit with your rifle.

Berger Extreme Outer Limits (EOL) Elite Hunter
EOL Elite Hunters were developed through a partnership with Berger and Extreme Outer Limits TV. These bullets break the trend-line for todays heavy hunting bullets and are designed for extreme long range huntins situations, typically with custom rifle applications. Elite Hunter Bullets utilize Bergers industry-leading hybrid ogive, which blends tangent and secant designs to optimize efficiency, reduce wind-drift, and minimize sensitivity to seating depth. Elite Hunter Bullets are identical in construction, shape and performance to the Berger Hybrid Target series, except they utilize a thinner J4 Precision Jacket for rapid expansion on game animals. Elite Hunters are designed to penetrate 2 to 3 inches and then begin to expand and create a massive wound cavity up to 15 inches. The hydrostatic shock causes most animals to drop immediately.

A valid firearms licence (FAC, PAL or POL) is required to purchase ammunition. It is our policy to sell ammunition only to persons 18 years of age or older, and in accordance with local, provincial and federal regulations. Ammunition must ship to the address registered to the firearms licence of the purchaser.
6.5 Creedmoor

The 6.5mm Creedmoor is a centerfire rifle cartridge introduced by Hornady in 2007 as a modification of the .30 TC, which was based on the 300 Savage. It was designed specifically for rifle target shooting , although it is also achieving success in hunting. Bullet for bullet it achieves a slower muzzle velocity than longer cartridges such as the 6.5-284 Norma or magnums such as the 6.5mm Remington Magnum. However, due to its 2.825 inch overall length, the 6.5mm Creedmoor is capable of being chambered in short-action bolt rifles and AR-10 rifles

Performance

This is a medium power cartridge is often comparable to the .260 Remington and 6.5x47mm Lapua but is not as accurate as the Lapua case. Three hundred yard energy using 129 grain Hornady SST bullets is listed by an independent reviewer as 1641 ft. lbs. For the 140 grain bullet at 2700 feet per second initial velocity another reviewer reports an MPBR for a six inch high target of 265 yards and reports a manufacturer claim of almost 1600 ft. lbs. of retained energy at 300 yards using a 24 inch barrel. SAAMI test data confirms 6.5 mm Creedmoor (fifteen foot from muzzle) velocity of 2,940 fps for the 129 grain bullet and 2,690 for the 140 grain bullet (which compares to .300 Winchester magnum data of 2,930 fps for a 200 grain bullet and 2,665 fps for a 210 grain bullet).
