Description

Browning X-Bolt Hell's Canyon Max LR - 6.5 Creedmoor - 26.0" - OVIX Camo:

The popularity of long-range target shooting and longer range hunting has more shooters honing their ammunition and rifle setup to help ensure that their shot at a once-in-a-lifetime trophy finds its mark.

The Max stock found on the Browning X-Bolt Hell's Canyon Max Long Range rifle is designed to help improve your shooting confidence by offering the adjustments necessary to adjust the stock to fit your body and dial-in fit for shooting at extended ranges. The easy to adjust comb places your eye in perfect alignment with your optics. Your ideal length of pull measurement is achieved with the included stock spacers. The wide fore-end has a flat bottom for added stability from the bench. A pair of swivel studs up front allow you to mount both a sling and bipod. A vertical pistol grip places your hand in perfect position, from the bench or prone, to manipulate the tang safety and optimize reach to the trigger. Browning OVIX camouflage provides maximum concealment against a wide variety of natural backdrops.

Browning OVIX Camouflage
This innovative design creates a consistent pattern of concealment that is suitable for a variety of environments. The optimized color pallet creates high contrast break-up at close range. At greater distances the shapes blend together to create a natural mirage. The combination of atmospheric optics with white light color scattering creates the essential background for this revolutionary camouflage pattern.

Composite Max Stock
The versatile Max stock has a target-style fore-end for added stability from a rest. The vertical pistol grip puts the hand in the perfect location while shooting prone or from the bench. The adjustable comb perfectly aligns the eye with the scope to decrease parallax error in the optic. Spacers can be easily installed for length of pull adjustment.

X-Lock Riflescope Mounting System
The X-Lock system uses four screws per base, replacing the traditional two-screw system. The benefits are obvious, with the scope bases being secured at all four corners rather than only held at the center of the base. This allows for more accurate placement of the bases on the receiver. This revolutionary X-Lock system holds the base tighter to the rifle than ever before.

Feather Trigger
The X-Bolt's new three-lever Feather Trigger provides a clean, crisp pull with no take-up or creep and minimal overtravel. The trigger is screw adjustable from 3 to 5 lbs. and factory pre-set at approximately 3 1/2 lbs. An alloy trigger housing contains the hard chromed steel components that are highly polished on all critical contact surfaces. Precise engagement angles mean the X-Bolt Feather Trigger feels light and right and stays that way through many thousands of rounds.

Recoil Hawg Muzzle Brake

The Browning Recoil Hawg ranks among the most effective muzzle brakes available. It reduces muzzle jump to keep your target in the scope and has been shown to reduce recoil up to 76% (depending on the caliber). Specially designed directional porting blows gases up and to the sides to minimize dust signature.

6.5 Creedmoor:

The 6.5mm Creedmoor is a centerfire rifle cartridge introduced by Hornady in 2007 as a modification of the .30 TC, which was based on the 300 Savage. It was designed specifically for rifle target shooting , although it is also achieving success in hunting. Bullet for bullet it achieves a slower muzzle velocity than longer cartridges such as the 6.5-284 Norma or magnums such as the 6.5mm Remington Magnum. However, due to its 2.825 inch overall length, the 6.5mm Creedmoor is capable of being chambered in short-action bolt rifles and AR-10 rifle.

Suggested Use:

  • Predators
  • Small Game
  • Varmint
  • Deer

Performance:

This is a medium power cartridge is often comparable to the .260 Remington and 6.5x47mm Lapua but is not as accurate as the Lapua case. Three hundred yard energy using 129 grain Hornady SST bullets is listed by an independent reviewer as 1641 ft. lbs. For the 140 grain bullet at 2700 feet per second initial velocity another reviewer reports an MPBR for a six inch high target of 265 yards and reports a manufacturer claim of almost 1600 ft. lbs. of retained energy at 300 yards using a 24 inch barrel. SAAMI test data confirms 6.5 mm Creedmoor (fifteen foot from muzzle) velocity of 2,940 fps for the 129 grain bullet and 2,690 for the 140 grain bullet (which compares to .300 Winchester magnum data of 2,930 fps for a 200 grain bullet and 2,665 fps for a 210 grain bullet).
