Anschutz 1761 MSR Silhouette - 21" Walnut Two Stage Light Trigger - 22 LR - 015540:

The Anschutz smallbore rifle for shooting on metal silhouettes and targets. Receiver with an 11 mm Anschutz prism rail and grooved barrel for attaching a front sight, so you can also shoot with sight set. Anatomically designed stock with cheek piece especially made for these disciplines. With non-slip and adjustable rubber butt plate and aluminum rail in the forend. The stock is prepared for the addition of a butt plate carrier to adjust the stock in length. Stippled checkering on pistol grip and forend.

With nearly three years of development, the new 1761 is Anschutzs next generation of bolt-action sporting rifle. The 1761 is designed with the sporting shooter and hunter in mind, functioning as a magazine fed bolt-action repeating rifle. While this style follows their tradition of refined sporting and hunting rifles, there is very little similarity between the 1761 and the current line of 64 and 54 rimfire rifles.

The mechanical change which was most pressing resided in the bolt, specifically changing to a smoother operation while maintaining a short bolt lift. Along with this and nearly sharing the same level of importance, we wanted to change how the barrel was installed into the receiver.

It was decided to use a dual v-block locking system for securing the barrel into the receiver. The two small v-blocks sit inside the receiver, at the bottom, and spaced evenly secure the barrel in position. A small screw threaded from the bottom of the receiver presses up pushes the v-blocks up against the barrel tenon.

On the top of the action, Anschutz chose to keep the 11mm machine dove tail for scope ring mounting, but omitted drilling and tapping 6/48 holes in the top. With the new bolt design, Anschutz was able to shorten the receiver by 40mm when compared to the match 54 receiver. This resulted in an extremely rigid receiver.
